A photoshoped glimpse of the future

Have you ever had the exhilarating, terrifying, heart-pounding rush that comes along with knowing you’re involved in something that really matters? Have you come to the fork where you’re trembling with the understanding that you can either sit back in your seat or take a stand and make an impact in the world?

One of the reasons that I have always been so proud to be a part of Media Two is that Media Two stands behind important causes and supports great organizations. Every day I’m surrounded by inspiring people who are making a difference in the world.

Last spring the men of Media Two all shaved their heads to raise money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives.

This year, we want to continue the tradition but we want to blow it out of the water. We want to send a powerful message that bald is beautiful; raise a gigantic, holy-moly, awesomesauce ton of money for the kids; and make a difference that really makes a difference.

I’m thrilled to have such a brave coworker and friend alongside me to make this announcement — This year Stacey Alexander and I are committing to shaving our heads alongside the men of Media Two for St. Baldrick’s.

When we were talking ourselves into it, Stacey gave me a great quote to ponder:

“Your decisions are based on either love or fear.” – Don La Franchi

You can believe me that the fear is there. It’s almost tangible, actually. But, we’re choosing love over fear.

Here’s the thing. We’re not shaving our heads for chump change. So, this is where you come in.

Please make this make a difference. Be a part of something epic. We’re setting our fundraising goal at $100,000, and we can’t get there alone. This is us humbly submitting ourselves to do whatever it takes to raise that money for children with cancer. We’re going way beyond our comfort zones to do something that can really have an impact if we do it right. We’re hoping to inspire you to do the same. Donate beyond what feels comfortable. Spread the word beyond the people you’re comfortable reaching out to. How many people can we inspire? How many people will support us?

Without your support, we can’t make the difference and the impact that we’re committed to making, so if you have ideas for us, tell us what we can do to inspire you to help us hit our goal.

For instance, anyone want to select our hair color for the event? We’ll each dye our hair any color(s) that are selected for us by the 1st two people / organizations / groups to donate $1,000 each.

I also want to make a shoutout to people who have really inspired us to take this leap: Rachel Healy who shaved her head last year for St. Baldrick’s and the RDU Movember team, lead by Gregory Ng, who all wore mustaches throughout the month of November to raise money and awareness for men’s cancer.

Phew. I’m nervous. Excited, though. Ok, let’s do this: DONATE HERE!!!

I know another amazing woman who did this last year. Christie. She lives here in Raleigh with her husband and baby girl. She did this, too, and it really is awe-inspiring to see a woman with long locks do this for this cause.

Feel free to contact her about it, too. :)

So glad to see you guys doing this! Very, very cool. I loved what Rachel did last year, and I’m glad to see it becoming a trend. Maybe I’ll test my social media clout and see what I can get for my bald self sometime in the future.

This is so awesome! You made me tear up. Way to go! What a wonderful example you’ll be setting for young girl and women who often struggle with what is truly beautiful – what’s inside their hearts. Let me know how I can support your efforts. Keep us posted. Thanks for making a difference.
