Last Friday, Media Two Interactive‘s Dave Dekker went “Over the Edge” for Special Olympics. This was part of a fund-raising event for Special Olympics North Carolina where participants raised $1000 each in order to rappel off the Wachovia Capitol Center Building, a 30-story sky scraper on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh. It was a great success, bringing many people together and raising over $100,000!
The main event took place on Saturday and featured 83 individual fund raisers rappelling down for a crowd of spectators. On Friday, the day before the main event, special supporters, such as representatives from corporate sponsors went over the edge. These brave souls included Dave Dekker of Media Two, Keith Fishburne of Special Olympics NC and Ken Smith of WRAL.
“Thanks to Special Olympics of North Carolina and Over the Edge, I will never look at tall buildings quite the same,” says Dave, Senior Interactive Developer at Media Two. “It was a great experience. Thanks so much for the opportunity!”
This is not Special Olympics of North Carolina and Media Two’s first successful venture together:
“Through their work with the Special Olympics NC website and our social media strategies, Media Two has been an important part of our promotion of Over the Edge, so it was very fitting that David Dekker was among the first to go over,” says Keith L. Fishburne, President & CEO of Special Olympics of North Carolina. “Media Two is a wonderful partner to Special Olympics and, as David proves, willing to do about anything for our athletes.”
